From Golf to Global Leadership: The Story Behind Georgetown Performance
At Georgetown Performance, our goal is to help athletes reach their highest potential by integrating advanced mental performance training and the latest in sports psychology research. Our mission includes raising awareness of the vital role mind health plays in achieving success in sports and life.
Dave Knott is the founder and CEO of Georgetown Performance, a mental performance coaching and consulting business. Georgetown Performance provides mental performance coaching to professional athletes, elite amateur and junior athletes, parents of athletes, coaches and athletic directors. Dave played 4 years of NCAA Division I collegiate golf at Georgetown University and has spent over 30 years playing and studying the game of golf. His journey began playing junior golf in Connecticut, continued with AJGA events and high school golf at Fairfield Prep, where he was the MVP of a State Championship winning team and 2-year co-captain.
Dave began studying the psychology, habits and behavior of successful people while at Fairfield Prep. This interest grew into an obsession and over the past 7 years Dave has read over 1000 books, countless peer reviewed research articles and continues to devour various forms of media related to sports psychology, peak performance, mindfulness, behavior design and sports neuroscience. In addition, Dave is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in I/O Psychology at Harvard University. Prior to the founding of Georgetown Performance, Dave held executive level positions in the finance and entertainment industries. He has worked in diverse environments all over the world, helping to build or manage teams in New York, Hong Kong, Singapore and Los Angeles. Dave currently lives in Connecticut with his wife, daughter and two dogs.
